Postseason Track & Field
Postseason Overview
The postseason is open to all athletes and provides extra time to develop in sprints, field events, and distance. Our goal is to create a fun, team-oriented environment where athletes can continue to build skills and gain experience in their preferred events. Field event coaches, in particular, offer focused instruction on technical development in a much smaller individualized setting.
Fees
The maximum cost is $60 per athlete, which covers NPHS track facility rental. Any remaining balance will be refunded once the full roster is set. Athletes compete as “unattached,” so no new uniform is required—your child can wear their regular club uniform. Meet entry fees are $5 per event ($20 per relay).
Benefits
Athletes typically reach peak fitness near the end of our regular season, making this an especially enjoyable time to compete. With smaller training groups, coaches can provide more individualized attention, allowing athletes to refine their technique and deepen their understanding of the sport.
Postseason Purpose
This is our second postseason program, and we’re excited to continue growing this opportunity for athletes in our community. This offers athletes a different experience compared to our regular season and more time to learn and enjoy competing in the sport of Track & Field.
Practice Schedule
Practices will primarily take place at the track on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00–6:30 PM during the weeks of May 11, May 18, May 25, and June 1. Once registered, families can view the full schedule on the Family Calendar at NPTrackClub.org.
Meets
Meets are hosted by larger clubs and event heats are seeded by each athlete's personal best which ensures competitive and engaging events for athletes of all abilities. These meets take place around the Los Angeles area and typically span two days (Saturday or Sunday, depending on the event). We recommend attending only during your child’s scheduled event time since these meets run all day.
Meet Registration
Coaches will assist families with the online meet registration process. The meets we are targeting are May 23–24, May 30–31, and June 6–7. Participation is optional, but we encourage athletes to attend at least one meet. The final meet is a USATF event requiring a $38 membership, as it serves as a regional qualifier.
Postseason & Nationals
Most national-level competitions occur in late June or July, after our postseason concludes in early June. Many athletes use this time to qualify for events such as the USATF Junior Olympics, AAU championships, or other national meets (i.e. like Nike or New Balance). Notably, this year’s USATF Junior Olympics will be held in Los Angeles. For questions about national-level competition, please reach out.
