Update for NPTC Track Families
Dear NPTC track families,
There are many hurdles to having a track season this year. The club board is doing its best to figure out what we can accomplish but we still don't have a decision due to the situation with the pandemic.
The Conference:
Our conference is still undecided on having a season. Most school districts refuse to rent out their tracks for practice or meets. Moorpark will rent their track, for four Saturdays in May and June, but they prohibit non-coaching spectators (parents) from attending.
Currently, CVUSD will only allow use of  the track for school sports. If restrictions are lifted, NPHS might rent to us for a few Saturdays in May and June and no week days before June 12.
Most-Likely Scenario:
A practice-only season for NPTC in May and June at local parks. Mostly running events (no high jump, hurdles, and long jump or conventional relays with baton passing). Maybe one or two on-the-track meets or time trials.
Additionally, the following would be required:
1) A COVID-safe practice protocol approved by the county,
2) Permission from CRPD to use the parks,
3) A separate insurance policy for NPTC,
4) Commitment from age-group coaches to run practices strictly following protocol.
We expect to reach a final decision by late March or early April.

More Club Records Broken at Yesterday's Meet at Newbury Park

Congratulations to several Newbury Park Panthers athletes who are no strangers to setting new club records.  Yesterday the Thousand Oaks Flyers joined us the for the dual meet of the 2017 track season at Newbury Park High School. It was an outstanding meet, with standout performances by athletes from both clubs.

Youth Boy Christian Middleton ran the 400 meters for the first time this season, with a mind-blowing time of 52.80, over 2 full seconds faster than the previous record of 54.85 set by T. Pagano in 2008.

Bantam Boy Chase Hansen took additional time off of two club records he previously broke last month, including the 400 meters in 64.78 and the 200 meters in 27.91.

Keep up the great work!

Three Club Records in Three Weeks by Bantam Boy, Chase Hansen!

Chase Hansen with Meet Announcer Evan Mackay After Setting 400M Record

This may well be an all-time first for the 49 year old Newbury Park Track Club! Bantam Boy Chase Hansen, new to the sport of track and field this year (though an avid athlete), has set age group records in each of the first three meets of the 2017 season! Fantastic!!

At Heritage Valley on March 11th, Chase heated up the track on an already hot day with a 14.09 100 meters, breaking the previous record of 14.23 set by Julien Stokes in 2012. He also broke the 200 meter record with a 28.94, beating the previous Bantam Boys record of 29.77 also set by Julien in 2012.

The next week, March 18th, at Camarillo, Chase lowered his previous week's 200 meter time and club record to 28.86.

Finally, on March 25th, Chase tried the 400 meters for the first time, destroying the 43 year old record of 67.24 set by D. Brunette with a time of 65.20. Truly incredible.

Way to go, Chase! Keep up the great work! I have a feeling this is not the last time we'll be talking about records this season.
