Check with your coach for possible alternate locations.

Practice may begin on Tuesday, February 16 and will be held at the Newbury Park High School Track from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays each week, unless otherwise announced by your Coach.  Athletes are expected to attend at least 3 practices a week in order to properly train and condition for the meets.

What to Bring
For the daily practices, runners should wear running shorts, a suitable top (t-shirt, tank top, running shirt), socks, and running shoes.  Sweatshirts or a jacket and sweatpants are needed at all practices and meets.  Boys should wear an athletic supporter or jockey type underwear.  Young ladies who need one should wear a bra. PLEASE MARK ALL CLOTHING!  Clothing with inappropriate slogans or pictures is not allowed.  Any athletes wearing indecent or inappropriate clothing will be dismissed from practice and asked to call their parents.  Water bottles are encouraged for every practice.

FOOD, CANDY, OR SPORTS DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE TRACK!

Shoes/Spikes
Each runner is responsible for providing his/her own shoes and should acquire a good pair of running/training shoes.  Information on shoes will be provided by the coach.  Gremlins and Bantams are not allowed to wear spikes under any circumstances.  Midgets, Youths, and Intermediates may wear spikes (5 mm. or 3/16") with the coach's direction.  Do not purchase spikes until you have consulted your coach.  Runners who choose to wear spikes will also need a pair of non-spiked running shoes.  If you are new to the program or have any questions regarding shoes, please see your coach before you purchase any shoes especially for Track.  We do not encourage over-investing in shoes because good shoes are available for reasonable prices.  Prices and quality vary greatly with the source and style.  We can help you decide what your runner may need, how much to expect to spend, and where to get good shoes at a decent price.

DO NOT WEAR SPIKES TO PRACTICE--CARRY THEM!

Rain
In case of a light rain or any questionable conditions, please call your Coach not a Board Member.

Behavior
One of the major goals of our Club is to encourage excellence in effort and achievement.  To meet this goal, we require excellence in behavior.  All NPTC members are expected to conduct themselves properly at all team functions.  Specific rules of conduct will be distributed by the first week of practice.

Parking Drop Off and Pick Up at NPHS
Parking at the high school must be in one of the designated parking lots.  Parking is not permitted in the basketball court area at the high school for practice. Please be prompt in dropping off and picking up your child.

Parents and Exercise
During scheduled practices, the track is reserved only for the athletes.

Parents and Coaches
Parents are encouraged to talk with the coaches.  Coaches generally prefer to talk before and after practices--not during, as that time is dedicated to training our athletes.  If you are not actively involved in assisting the Coach, please refrain from entering the track and infield during practice.

Pets
Under no circumstances are any pets to be brought to practices or meets.  They present a health and safety risk to all participants.  Additionally, city ordinances prohibit bringing pets onto school grounds at any time.
