Newbury Park Track Club
MEET INFORMATION

ALL meets begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.  Your coach will give you a specific time and place to report at the meet site.  Meets will last until the middle to late afternoon.  Please come prepared with adequate clothing (sweats, etc.), plenty to drink, and a sack lunch.  Some meets do have a Snack Bar, but not all do.  Click here to access maps and directions to the away meets. Please call your coach if you have a problem or question. You are expected to provide transportation to and from the meets for your child(ren).  Due to California State liability laws and insurance requirements, the Club or Coach is NOT permitted to provide transportation for any athletes except their own child(ren).  In addition, California case law does not permit coaches to "abandon" children with the knowledge that there is no adult supervision.  Please help us all by being there or making other arrangements ahead of time.  Parents are NOT allowed on the infield during the meets.

Meet Uniforms
The Club will provide a running shirt and shorts this season to each member.  Club sweatshirts and other "Panther Gear" will be available at registration to order separately.  The uniform top and shorts are worn to the meets and Photo Day only, not to daily practice. The uniform is yours to keep at the end of the season.

Varsity/Junior Varsity Levels of Competition
There is a Varsity and Junior Varsity class of competition in every event in all age divisions.  Varsity participation is largely determined by the coach, and is based on league established standards for each event, age group, and gender.  An athlete MAY participate in Varsity if they have not met the standard in that event, but MUST enter as Varsity in that event if they have met or exceeded the standard.  At the end of the season, there is a Varsity Finals Meet for those athletes who have qualified at Varsity standards, and a Junior Varsity Finals Meet for all other athletes.

Awards
Award ribbons are given in each event at each meet.  Competitors placing 1st through 4th place in each event receive place ribbons.  The remainder of the athletes are given participation ribbons.  The coaches will collect the ribbons at the meet and pass them out to the athletes at the next practice.  In events where there are multiple heats or flights in the same J.V. age group, each flight is ribboned separately.  For Varsity, there is only one flight of each event per age.

Events
Each athlete may compete in a maximum of 4 events in each meet.  Of the 4 events, 3 may be running events (the 4x400M Relay does not count as one of the athlete's running events).  For this season, these are the events contested:
