Newbury Park Track Club Cross Country – Fall 2008

Age Groups:  Only athletes born in 2001 or before can participate in Cross Country.  The age groups are the same for Cross Country as they are for Track and are as follows:

The NPTC Cross Country team will be competing in the Valley Youth Conference (VYC) headquartered in the San Fernando Valley, www.valleyconference.org.  The races will be held at Pierce College, Mt. San Antonio College, Corriganville Park (on Keuhner off the 118), Central Park in Santa Clarita, O’Melveny Park in Granada Hills, and Cal Lutheran or Mission Oaks Park in Camarillo.

Meets: The meets are held on Saturday mornings.  They usually start at 9:00 am and end around noon.  The schedule is not yet published, but the first meet is usually held on the 3rd Saturday in September with the regular season ending the last week in October.

Registration:  Registration will be held on Saturday, July 19 from 9 - 11 a.m. at Peppertree Park.  Please bring a filled out NPTC registration form that can be found at http://www.nptrackclub.org/registration.htm and if the athlete has not participated in either track or cross country with the NPTC, bring 2 copies of the athlete's birth certificate.

Practice:  There will be 3 practices each week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.  A Wednesday practice will be added later in the season (which will be optional).  Practices will start on Saturday, August 2 and will run from 5 - 6 p.m. on week nights and at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings.  The weekday workouts will be at Peppertree Park, and the Saturday workout location is TBD.

Cost:  The registration cost will be $45 per athlete with an additional charge of $50 for a NPTC uniform.  If you purchased a new NPTC uniform during the 2008 track and field season and it is still in good shape and fits, then there will be no uniform fee.

Volunteers:  All parents are welcome and encouraged to walk/run/hike/monitor practices.  We will need to provide volunteers to help with at least one meet.
